Children of parents who smoke are up to three times more likely to start smoking themselves. Tobacco smoke contains over 4,800 chemicals and over 70 toxins and carcinogens which shows there are no safe levels of smoking. Children exposed to second-hand smoke are at an increased risk of respiratory illness, middle ear infection and bacterial meningitis to name a few.
At our Children's Centres we have a trained Stop Smoking Advisor that can support you to stop smoking. If you would like more information or would like support to stop smoking, please call us on 01279 696853.
